In The City. King Of Hollywood. I think the old cd I got from BMG sounds best to me. John Grimes , Aug 31, Location: Fort worth tx. I have a German disc that I bought in Moscow Russia in the early 90's. It sounds good to my ears.
Funk , Aug 31, Location: South Florida. JPagan , Aug 31,A great EAGLES album I really used to love this album, but its kind getting old, after all these years. That said, this is one of the better albums of the late 70s. "The Long run" is a catchy pop tune, while "In the City" is one of the great rock anthems.
Collins St. Chapter Four. Chapter Five. Chapter Eight. Chapter Twelve. Blue Collar, Blue Scrubs turns back the clock, taking listeners from his days as a construction worker to his entry into medical school, expertly infusing his journey to become a doctor with humanity, compassion, and humor. The struggle to perform well is universal: each one of us faces fatigue, limited resources, and imperfect abilities in whatever we do.
But nowhere is this drive to do better more important than in medicine, where lives are on the line with every decision. In this book, Atul Gawande explores how doctors strive to close the gap between best intentions and best performance in the face of obstacles that sometimes seem insurmountable. Sometimes in medicine the only way to know what is truly going on in a patient is to operate, to look inside with one's own eyes. This book is exploratory surgery on medicine itself, laying bare a science not in its idealized form but as it actually is - complicated, perplexing, and profoundly human.
In medical school, Matt McCarthy dreamed of being a different kind of doctor - the sort of mythical, unflappable physician who could reach unreachable patients. But when a new admission to the critical care unit almost died his first night on call, he found himself scrambling.
Visions of mastery quickly gave way to hopes of simply surviving hospital life, where confidence was hard to come by and no amount of med school training could dispel the terror of facing actual patients.
And yet, she is often confounded by the cases she describes in her column: unexpected collections of symptoms that she and other physicians struggle to diagnose. Sanders shows how making the right diagnosis requires expertise, painstaking procedure, and sometimes a little luck. With poignant insight and humor, Frank Vertosick, Jr. Told through intimate portraits of Vertosick's patients and unsparing-yet-fascinatingly detailed descriptions of surgical procedures, When the Air Hits Your Brain illuminates both the mysteries of the mind and the realities of the operating room.
By turns heartbreaking, hilarious, and utterly human, The House of God is a mesmerizing and provocative journey that takes us into the lives of Roy Basch and five of his fellow interns at the most renowned teaching hospital in the country. Author Cory Franklin, MD, who headed the hospital's intensive care unit from the s through the s, shares his most unique and bizarre experiences, including the deadly Chicago heatwave of , treating the first AIDS patients in the country before the disease was diagnosed, the nurse with rare Munchausen syndrome, the only surviving ricin victim, and the professor with Alzheimer's hiding the effects of the wrong medication.
At the University of Wisconsin, Dr. Joshua Mezrich creates life from loss, transplanting organs from one body to another. In this intimate, profoundly moving work, he illuminates the extraordinary field of transplantation that enables this kind of miracle to happen every day. In riveting first-person prose, Dr. Brendan Reilly takes us to the front lines of medicine today. Just two months before the September 11 terrorist attacks, Dr. Judy Melinek began her training as a New York City forensic pathologist.
With her husband and their toddler holding down the home front, Judy threw herself into the fascinating world of death investigation-performing autopsies, investigating death scenes, and counseling grieving relatives. Working Stiff chronicles Judy's two years of training, taking listeners behind the police tape of some of the most harrowing deaths in the Big Apple.
At the age of 36, on the verge of completing a decade's worth of training as a neurosurgeon, Paul Kalanithi was diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer. One day he was a doctor treating the dying, and the next he was a patient struggling to live. And just like that, the future he and his wife had imagined evaporated.
Welcome to hour weeks. Welcome to life and death decisions. Welcome to a constant tsunami of bodily fluids.
Welcome to earning less than the hospital parking meter. Wave goodbye to your friends and relationships. Welcome to the life of a first-year doctor. Scribbled in secret after endless days, sleepless nights, and missed weekends, comedian and former medical resident Adam Kay's This Is Going to Hurt provides a no-holds-barred account of his time on the front lines of medicine.

Children of the Night - Remastered Version. During the supporting tour for the band's previous album Slide It In , singer David Coverdale and drummer Cozy Powell 's relationship had started to strain.
In , after the band's performance at the Rock in Rio festival in Brazil , the last show of the Slide It In tour, Powell left the group. Prior to his leaving, Coverdale was actually about to fold the band, but executives at Geffen Records with whom Whitesnake had recently signed in the US and Canada only, while outside North America they remained with EMI asked Coverdale to continue working with guitarist John Sykes , as they saw potential in the two. In the spring of , Coverdale and Sykes decamped to the town of Le Rayol in the south of France to start writing material for a new album; according to Coverdale, bassist Neil Murray also helped with some of the arrangements.
Two songs that would emerge from these sessions would be two of Whitesnake's biggest hits: " Still of the Night ", based on an old demo by Coverdale and Deep Purple guitarist Ritchie Blackmore ; and " Is This Love ", originally written for Tina Turner. Coverdale, Sykes and Murray then moved to Los Angeles, where they rehearsed and started auditioning for drummers, and hired Aynsley Dunbar.
With their line-up complete, Whitesnake headed up to Vancouver , British Columbia , Canada, to lay plans for the new record. One of the first issues the band faced was John Sykes' desire to achieve a specific guitar sound that he wanted, which he eventually found with the help of Coverdale's friend and engineer Bob Rock , who had previously worked with Bon Jovi on the multi-platinum album Slippery When Wet. The next problem the band faced was a sinus infection with which Coverdale was stricken.
This put the album's production behind schedule, especially when Coverdale underwent surgery and a six-month-long rehabilitation program. Sykes grew impatient and suggested bringing in a new vocalist and carrying on without Coverdale, which eventually led to the end of Coverdale's relationship with both John Sykes and producer Mike Stone.
That's rubbish. How on earth could you ever have anyone fronting Whitesnake apart from David Coverdale? After Coverdale recovered, he started work on his vocal tracks with Ron Nevison , before soon switching to Keith Olsen , who also helped mixing the album. Keyboard players Don Airey and Bill Cuomo were brought in to record some keyboard parts, as well as Dutch guitar player Adrian Vandenberg to record the guitar solo for the re-recorded version of the song " Here I Go Again ".
Coverdale was also discussing the possibility of Vandenberg soon joining Whitesnake. By this time late , with the recording process done and the album slated to be released in early , Coverdale made the decision to let the other members of the band go, due to personal differences.
In Europe the album was called , featuring a different running order and two extra tracks, "Looking for Love" and "You're Gonna Break My Heart Again"; in Japan the album was titled Serpens Albus in reference to the illustrated text on the album's artwork which, in Latin , means "white snake". In Australia, the album was released as but had the North American track order on the original vinyl and the European order on CD.
For the new line-up of the band, Coverdale enlisted guitarist Adrian Vandenberg with whom he had already discussed plans , second guitarist Vivian Campbell ex- Dio and the rhythm section of the newly defunct M.
All tracks are written by David Coverdale and John Sykes , except where noted. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. For the David Coverdale solo album with a similar name, see White Snake album.

After The Gold Rush was Neil Young's third album as a solo artist, and it turned out to be the most beautiful and emotionally moving record in his catalogue.
When Neil decided to follow his dream, and pursue a solo career, his first record was controlled by his new record label, and although it had a lot of very good songs on it, and a few stand out tracks, it was terribly over produced by the label that was trying to figure out how to market his unique sound and style, by glossing over his distinctive voice and wide range of musical styles.
The end result was disappointing, despite the fact that it had a lot of very well written songs on it, and a couple of stand out tracks, like The Loner, and 'I've Been Waiting For You, which have been Concert favorites for all of these years! So, on his second record, Neil connected with a Rough and Ready band that he renamed Crazy Horse, and he was able to put out an electric guitar based album that featured an amazing collection of long, extended solo guitar based tracks that were not like anything else on record, at the time.
Two of the best tracks are 'Down By The River ', and Cowgirl In The Sand ', and you could hear them from every car and open window, and every college bar, and Student Union, and gathering place across the country!
Those songs are still a regular part of Neil's concert repertoire to this day! So, a few months later, he is in his home studio, in true Neil Young fashion, without Crazy Horse, for now, playing acoustic guitar and piano, writing beautiful ballads, that are pure, heartbreaking, lyrical magic!
There is only one electric guitar song, and it too is screaming with gut wrenching alarm and pure emotion, 'Southern Man', which needs no explanation, it's as urgent a plea for racial equality as you can make, but in the Southern states they look at the issue differently than the rest of the country!
This record began as a soundtrack for a film, but the movie was never made. However, Neil had written most of the songs by the time the project was shut down, and he wasn't going to stop working on this collection of songs just because the movie plans didn't work out. The record turned out to be the finest single project that he has ever done, and out of all the great albums that he has released over his distinctive career After The Gold Rush stands out as Neil Young's finest work! He sits and explains all the ways he would protect her if he was her monster. This is not only a very cute story, but a book full of wonderful monsters for children of all ages to enjoy.
I received a copy of this book to facilitate my review. The opinions expressed here are my own. Mar 09, J. Colorful illustrations, adorable prose, great book for the young and the old.
My four-year-old son thought the monsters were just great, my eight-year-old daughter loved it also. While my eleven-year-old thought he was too cool for school, I did catch him reading it to his four-year-old brother later on. Great children's book! I really enjoyed this children's book. It has a great story and great illustrations. I would love to have this in paper form to share with my preschoolers. We love Nightmare in my closet and this one takes that further.

I used to think of vampires as really wierd bad looking things with fangs but Twilight changed my perspective. Being a vampire would be really cool and fun but it has down sides of being away from your family and stuff and sometimes I feel sorry for the poor animals being hunted.
Ugh, NO! I wouldn't want to have to drink blood. I wouldn't want to feel like killing people and maybe accidentally kill them. I wouldn't want to give up my humanity. I would hate to give up eating, sleeping, my friends and family, normal life.
