It is these little nuances along with the way she shakes her hips that make her an excellent performer who doesn't rely on special effects and fancy costumes. The main special effect was a big talking head that appeared on the big tv screen behind her but this is tame compared to other artists.
At times she let the audience sing some of the lyrics. During the performance of Waka Waka we say a short video of several African children talking about what they want to be when they grow up. The extas were nice, showing rehearsals in other cities, a 17 year old girl who sings exactly like Shakira, a race with the performers on burros and Shakira playing golf.
Overall an excellent value for the price and an excellent complilation of most of her hit songs. I bought this as a gift for my wife who has been a huge Shakira fan since before she ever released anything in the US.
We both loved it. The performance was great, the CD was great and the video was awesome. We put the DVD on late at night fully knowing that we needed to be up early thinking that we would just watch a few songs just to check it out, and we couldn't turn it off. My wife and I stayed up and watched the whole DVD, included the extra features. The video was great, the sound was great, and the overall performance was outstanding.
I knew Shakira was great and all because my wife was a fan, but after watching this, I'm now sold on her. On another note, I'm surprised to hear anything but great reviews for this.
The sound and video are great. There's no time difference as one reviewer stated. It's a LIVE performance. Yes, you're going to hear the crowd, and you're going to have post production features added.
Are we really going to complain that during the opening song, the screen fades to black and the Title Sequence appears for all of five seconds? Are we really going to complain that the sound fades in and out at the beginning and end of each song so as to hurry the concert time along?
You know, we could all just sit there and listen to the crowd cheering for five minutes while we wait for the encore part of the concert but somehow the post production people thought it would work better to just go to the next song. Stop complaining. I think people should just be a little more grateful instead of looking for reasons to be disappointed with this. It's a live concert, so how can you complain that you're getting anything close to a live concert experience? I don't understand that.
